What is whey protein isolate?

Whey protein isolate is a form of whey protein — a protein found in milk. It goes through certain stages of processing that result in higher protein content and less fat, lactose and carbs than other forms of whey, like whey protein concentrate.

What are the benefits of whey protein isolate

Whey protein isolate is ideal for supporting the growth and maintenance of muscles and can be used in all areas of training. As almost all the lactose, fat and carbs in whey protein isolate have been removed (leaving 90% protein), it’s great for those who prefer less lactose or are looking for a high protein shake that’s easy to digest.

When should I drink whey protein isolate?

As whey protein isolate is a fast-acting protein full of amino acids that help support the growth and maintenance of muscles, the best time to take it is after your workout. If you’re simply looking for a pure whey isolate to meet your protein needs, you can enjoy a shake or drink at any time during the day.

What is the difference between whey isolate, concentrate and hydrolysate?

Whey protein isolate contains around 90% protein, making it the purest form of whey protein. Whey protein concentrate contains between 70-80% protein and tends to have a better flavour because of the carbohydrates and fat left in. Hydrolysed whey protein is partially broken down (in a process called ‘hydrolysis’), making it easier to digest than other forms.
